Planning, coordination and control within the value chain are the main tasks of our sustainable logistics and enable effective process execution. Sustainability is not a new topic here. But what does sustainable logistics mean at THIMM?

Short transport routes promote sustainability. With our locations close to our customers, we remain flexible and thus enable fast delivery through short transport routes. Thanks to the shorter routes, we avoid long truck journeys and reduce CO2 emissions.
Empty runs must be avoided. With the help of digitalisation, empty runs can be minimised and avoided. Our logistics service providers control the logistics data and thus create better networking between carriers and shippers. The optimal utilisation of the transport volume and the reduction of partial quantity deliveries and special trips also play an important role in our sustainable logistics concepts. In addition, we calculate the optimal pallet configuration. This results in optimal utilisation of the pallet and the transport volume is used optimally. We also actively use and promote recycling systems by participating in pallet collection systems.
The optimisation of our logistics processes is an ongoing process: the existing processes are analysed in terms of performance, weak points and potential. We always keep a close eye on the ecological and economic consequences.
In optimising sustainable logistics, THIMM focuses on the areas of: Cost optimisation, minimisation of freight routes, avoidance of empty runs, securing capacity and process optimisation. These optimisations can be implemented and controlled through intelligent capacity management and with the help of digital platforms.
The goal is to enable optimal route planning, to make vehicle utilisation as efficient as possible and to secure capacities. In the process, transport costs can be lowered and CO2 emissions effectively reduced.
At THIMM we use an IT platform for sustainable development planning. With the help of this Transport Management System (TMS), freight is allocated in a tender platform and controlled centrally. This makes the overall process leaner and the associated logistics processes more efficient. Minimisation of journeys, reduced fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions are some sustainable results that have been achieved. In parallel to the reduction of costs and environmental impact, customer satisfaction also increases.
