Brussels Airlines, the national carrier of Belgium and part of the Lufthansa Group, has started the new year by becoming the first airline to receive a delivery of Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™ at Brussels Airport via NATO's Central European Pipeline System (CEPS). The CEPS supplies fuel to commercial airports across Central Europe and from 1 January 2023, these airports will also be able to purchase Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) through the pipeline system.

A study from The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm says emissions from ships could be reduced by 97.5% by switching from diesel vessels to a new type of electric hydrofoil ship that will be introduced in Stockholm next year.
