The world is experiencing a turning point in international economic and energy policy. A turning point that is accompanied by rising energy prices and disrupted supply chains and has a direct impact on global industrial production. At the same time, more and more manufacturing companies are making their contribution to combating climate change. In this area of tension, solutions must be found quickly: politically, economically and especially technologically. HANNOVER MESSE 2022 provides the framework for this.

Hannover. From 30 May to 2 June, 2 500 companies will present their technologies for the factories and energy systems of tomorrow at the Hannover Exhibition Centre. Under the guiding theme of Industrial Transformation, they will show how networked production plants can work more efficiently and conserve resources, or how energy can be generated and transmitted sustainably.

"In view of the current global political situation, the topics at HANNOVER MESSE are more relevant than ever before," said Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman and CEO of Deutsche Messe AG at the HANNOVER MESSE preview. "At the heart of the matter is how we can ensure security of supply and growth in a dynamically changing world - politically, ecologically and economically - while at the same time counteracting climate change. Innovative technologies will play a key role in this," adds Köckler.

The exhibiting companies include corporations such as Siemens, Bosch, Schneider Electric, Schaeffler, Microsoft, SAP and Service Now, as well as many medium-sized industrial companies such as Beckhoff, Festo, Harting, Pepperl+Fuchs, Phoenix Contact, Wago and Ziehl-Abegg. Then there are the major research institutes such as Fraunhofer or KIT and around 100 start-ups, which find HANNOVER MESSE an ideal platform for networking with industry.
Green energies and hydrogen for security of supply and climate protection

When it comes to CO2-neutral production and energy supply security in Europe, renewable energies and green hydrogen play a key role. Many companies are already leading the way with concrete solutions. For example, a hydrogen cycle is being created in the Industry 4.0 control centre of HANNOVER MESSE exhibitor Bosch. This produces green hydrogen that is used for industrial processes.

Due to the current energy supply discussion, the topic of hydrogen is gaining further importance at HANNOVER MESSE. "We have already been offering the largest European platform for the hydrogen and fuel cell industry for years. In Hannover, more than 200 companies will be presenting solutions for sustainable energy supply using hydrogen from renewable energies - including Iberdrola, Saint Gobain, Emerson, ElringKlinger, Plug Power, Siemens, Phoenix Contact, Enapter, Bosch, Hexagon Purus, Nel Hydrogen, Hydrogenious and GP Joule" says Köckler.
Fighting climate change with digitalisation, automation and AI

Europe wants to become climate neutral by the middle of the millennium. More and more companies have set themselves ambitious goals and are in the process of completely converting their production and services. HANNOVER MESSE exhibitors are supplying the technologies needed to achieve this.

Not only because the production of almost all goods can be made more resource-conserving and energy-efficient with modern machinery and equipment, but also because solutions from the mechanical and plant engineering, electrical engineering, software and IT industries can improve the control processes of complex systems, boost innovation and reduce greenhouse gas emissions around the world.

Measuring the carbon footprint across entire supply chains is often the first step towards climate neutrality. HANNOVER MESSE exhibitor Siemens has developed software that captures emissions data along the supply chain and combines it with that from its own value creation to create a product's real carbon footprint.
Economic policy platform and partner country Portugal

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Portugal's Prime Minister António Costa will open HANNOVER MESSE together. This year Portugal is the Partner Country of the world's most important industrial fair.

More than 120 companies from the Partner Country Portugal have registered for HANNOVER MESSE 2022. Under the motto "Portugal Makes Sense", they will be showing their products and solutions for digital transformation, the energy transition and reliable supply chains.

Other political dignitaries such as Frans Timmermanns, Vice-President of the European Commission, and Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Federal Minister of Education and Research, have also confirmed their attendance. Thus, after a two-year "Corona break", HANNOVER MESSE will once again provide the international stage for economic policy discourse. Köckler: "At the end of May, the global industrial community will be looking to Hannover. This year in particular, HANNOVER MESSE 2022 can send economic policy signals and build bridges."

In addition to the trade fair presentations, visitors can expect a top-class supporting programme. The four conference stages will cover topics such as automation, cloud and infrastructure, analysis and data management, digital platforms, robotics, IT security, artificial intelligence, renewable energies, green hydrogen, energy-efficient and CO2-neutral production, digital energy management, the circular economy and much more. The complete programme will not only be available to experience on site, but will also be streamed simultaneously via the HANNOVER MESSE website.
