High raw material and energy costs require consistent, continuous optimisation of the company's own processes // Thomas Rupp, Managing Director Smart Factory Consulting: "Our consultancy uniquely combines methodological expertise with a deep understanding of processes and technology in the sheet metal industry."

At the EuroBLECH trade fair, the high-tech company TRUMPF is presenting its new consulting company, founded in September 2022. The aim of "TRUMPF Smart Factory Consulting" is to support sheet metal manufacturers in optimising their processes and in factory and production planning. The company focuses on the customers' production processes and works separately from TRUMPF's machine sales. "Increasing cost pressure due to high raw material and energy costs, as well as the growing shortage of skilled workers, require efficient and material-saving processing more than ever. As a leading user and leading supplier for the networked industry, TRUMPF also has in-depth know-how about material and information flows on the shop floor and in work preparation. In the future, we will offer our knowledge of factory planning, machine and capacity planning as well as production control, which we have built up over decades, as an independent consulting service. In doing so, we uniquely combine methodological expertise with a deep understanding of technology and processes in the sheet metal industry," says Thomas Rupp, Managing Director of TRUMPF Smart Factory Consulting. TRUMPF Smart Factory Consulting GmbH is based in Ditzingen. A total of around 20 employees work for the company.
Recipe against shortage of skilled workers and cost pressure
On the one hand, the new offer is aimed at companies that want to expand their production or build a new factory and are looking for support in planning. However, companies with existing production structures, which are currently often faced with major challenges, are also expressly intended to benefit from the advisory service. "We stand out from other management consultancies because we not only make tangible, concrete optimisation proposals, but also implement them. Often, simple measures are enough to achieve enormous leaps in productivity. In this way, we help sheet metal processing companies to improve the profitability of their production and to position themselves digitally and fit for the future. This includes supporting our customers in the introduction of Oseon, the TRUMPF software for production control. In this way, we ensure that processes and software are perfectly coordinated," says Rupp. The consulting services of TRUMPF Smart Factory Consulting are available worldwide. At EuroBLECH, the team will be presenting itself at the TRUMPF stand in Hall 11.
The Managing Director of Smart Factory Consulting GmbH, Thomas Rupp, has been with TRUMPF for 16 years. Most recently, the 47-year-old physicist was the main department manager in the Research and Development (R&D) department, responsible for the development of automation and intralogistics solutions for the entire sheet metal process chain. Rupp also has many years of experience in product management and in the development of customer-specific complete solutions. He thus has all the prerequisites to advise companies individually on the optimisation and further development of their production, both technically and economically.
