Reflex GmbH & Co. KG, the leading manufacturer of high-quality fine papers, uncoated label papers and specialty papers based in Düren, Germany, is taking another important step towards sustainable production: the company is planning to build a ground-mounted photovoltaic system with a capacity of 5 megawatts peak (MWp).
In the future, the planned plant will cover up to 30 percent of the paper mill's current electricity requirements, thus making a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions. The city of Düren approved the project on 8 May 2025, marking an important milestone on the way to its realisation. F&S solar concept GmbH from Euskirchen has been commissioned with the planning. Commissioning is scheduled for 2027.
Sustainability is deeply rooted in our corporate philosophy,' explains Dr Tiemo Arndt, Managing Director of Reflex GmbH & Co. KG, Dr Tiemo Arndt. By investing in our own renewable energy sources, we are not only strengthening our security of supply, but also taking responsibility for climate protection.
The photovoltaic system will save several thousand tonnes of CO₂ each year. In doing so, Reflex is sending a strong signal in favour of active climate protection in the region. The project is part of a wide range of measures to optimise the company's environmental footprint and is an example of the shift towards resource-saving, future-oriented industrial production.
