EU chemicals strategy should simplify procedures and complement existing legislation to make it more effective

Europe is the second biggest producer of chemicals in the world, accounting for 16.9% of global sales. Chemical manufacturing is the fourth largest industry in the EU with 30,000 companies (95% of which are SMEs) and employs 1.2 million people directly and 3.6 indirectly.

COP15 ends with landmark biodiversity agreement

The United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP15) ended in Montreal, Canada, on 19 December 2022 with a landmark agreement to guide global action on nature through to 2030. Representatives from 188 governments have been gathered in Montreal for the past two weeks for the important summit.
