Vattenfall and RWE have agreed that RWE will take over the Magnum gas-fired power station in the Dutch Eemshaven from Vattenfall as of 30 September 2022. The proceeds from the sale of EUR 500 million will give Vattenfall more resources to invest in the energy transition, for example in fossil free energy projects such as offshore wind and district heating and cooling.

Swedish Project AIR is an industrial concept to produce methanol from a large variety of recovered end-of-life streams and hydrogen from electrolysis. The project is carried out by the chemical group Perstorp in cooperation with Uniper and Fortum, and the aim is to reduce carbon emissions by up to half million tons annually. Project Air has now been allocated approximately EUR 30 million by the Swedish Energy Agency.

Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (President: UCHIDA Takashi; “Tokyo Gas”) and SCREEN Holdings Co., Ltd. (President: HIROE Toshio; “SCREEN”) have agreed to jointly development (“development project”) a “water electrolysis cell stack*1,” a core component, and “water electrolysis cell stack manufacturing device” to build a water electrolysis system that will contribute to low-cost hydrogen production.
