A Dow initiative, “Project Ybá: Conservation that Transforms” aims to develop a local cooperative, which will sell the bioactive products from Dow’s preserved areas of the Amazon Rainforest, and increase family incomes in the local community, while conserving the rainforest.

Sekab has awarded AFRY engineering and project partner assignment for the planned full-scale production facility in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. The production facility will produce green chemicals from the forestry industry residues. This is a continuation for earlier concept and feasibility study phases.

It is the busiest time of the year, when our Nordic forests are being regenerated by planting or seeding. This year, Stora Enso will plant a total of more than 48 million tree seedlings in Finland, Sweden, Russia and Estonia. In northern forests, the planting season is typically about 150 days long, which means that, during this year’s planting season, about 320 000 seedlings are planted every day.
