Over its five-day run, from 15 to 19 May, LIGNA 2023, the world’s leading trade fair for woodworking and wood processing featured a plethora of innovations, inspiration and networking. 1,300 companies from 50 different countries presented their solutions for the wood industry, the furniture-making industry, the woodworking trades and the primary sector.

3M and Svante will partner to develop Direct Air Capture (DAC) products for the carbon dioxide removal (CDR) industry, driving their shared commitment to find materials science-based solutions to achieve net-zero emissions and combat global warming.

The ERDE (Erntekunststoffe Recycling Deutschland – Crop Plastics Recycling Germany) initiative was again able to significantly increase its collection volumes in 2022. At 645 bring centres and with 3147 on-farm collections, a total of 34 889 tonnes of silage and stretch films were collected and recycled. This corresponds – after deduction of contamination – to 68.7 percent of the silage and stretch films put on the German market. This is confirmed in this year’s annual report to the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV).

The pandemic forced a four-year wait on exhibitors and visitors alike – now the world's leading trade fair for the woodworking and wood processing industry is finally taking place live again, and providing the opportunity for face-to-face contact and networking.

FPT Industrial – a pioneer and leader in the development of alternative fuel engines with more than 20 years of experience and over 80,000 Natural Gas engines sold globally to date – will be presenting the complete cycle of biomethane in agriculture at Agrishow 2023. During the trade fair, being held in Ribeirão Preto (São Paulo, Brazil) from May 1 to 5, the Brand will also show off a full range of technologies and solutions to implement independent energy production and a carbon-neutral virtuous cycle in agriculture.

Climate change and current forest damage pose considerable challenges for the forestry and wood cluster. At the same time, new potentials for the raw material wood arise in the context of the transformation towards a modern, resource-efficient and climate-neutral economy. Under the motto "NRW - Making more out of wood" , the partners will present new and resource-efficient uses for the raw material wood at the joint stand of Wald und Holz NRW (Forrest and Wood NRW).

In addition to its centerpiece - the exhibition of woodworking and wood processing machinery and equipment - LIGNA.23 also offers its visitors an extensive supporting program. This year the LIGNA.Stage will celebrate its premiere in Hall 12, Stand A16. On all five days of the show, around 100 speakers will present a program of application- and solution-oriented presentations. Thematically, the program takes up the focus topics of LIGNA "Woodworking Transformation", "Prefab Building Processes" and "Green Material Processing" as well as the special interest topics "Recruiting & Careers" and "Sustainability & Circular Economy".
