The conference “Renewable Dialogue – North Sea Energy Hub” will take place for the first time on 23 April 2024 in the Convention Center at the Hannover Exhibition Center. There, politicians and experts from Germany and Partner Country Norway will discuss the energy transition with a focus on political conditions as well as technological developments and applications.

Stora Enso and Voodin Blade Technology GmbH have signed a partnership agreement to develop sustainable wind turbine blades from wood. Under the agreement, the two companies are committed to developing sustainable alternatives for wind turbine blades and creating a competitive and reliable supply chain. They are currently producing and installing a 20 m blade for a 0.5 MW turbine and have plans for an 80 m blade.

The carbon footprint of Vattenfall’s wind power has now been reduced to 13 grammes per kilowatt hour generated, compared to 15 grammes in 2016, and the reduction trend only continues. The new Swedish wind farm Blakliden Fäbodberget landed at a record low 8 g CO2/kWh. In this case, this is a 47 per cent reduction in emissions compared to six years ago. In addition, the difference from fossil-based electricity generation is huge.

Air Liquide has signed its largest long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to date in the Netherlands with Vattenfall, for 115 MW or around 500 GWh per year, of renewable electricity from the offshore wind farm Hollandse Kust Zuid. This PPA comes in addition to a 100 GWh-PPA with Air Liquide announced in March 2021, expanding the long-term partnership.

Vattenfall's Kriegers Flak wind farm was commissioned in the Danish Baltic Sea at the beginning of September. TÜV SÜD has accompanied the project on behalf of Vattenfall since 2018 and successfully completed the project certification. The certification was carried out in accordance with the Danish BEK 73.

Vattenfall and BASF have agreed the sale of 49.5% of Vattenfall’s offshore wind farm Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) in the Netherlands. Once fully commissioned it will be the largest offshore wind farm in the world and also the first one ever to be built without subsidies for the power produced.
