Not content with just producing new biodegradable adhesive innovations for the packaging industry, UK-headquartered Power Adhesives has announced its accreditation to Ecovadis, achieving a Silver award for its second submission. The audit results showed a strong performance across the board, outpacing its industry average by almost 20% overall.
With over 100,000 companies now rated, Ecovadis is the world's largest sustainability ratings provider. Giving companies a holistic view of their sustainability performance, Ecovadis enables organisations to assess and share their current performance and what they need to do to improve.
Brendan Colgan, CEO of Power Adhesives, commented: “We’re delighted with this result, which puts us in the top 15% of all companies rated. Only a year after our first submission, we’re already making fantastic progress in an outstanding reflection of our team’s commitment to sustainability. As a business, we’re keen to drive our entire industry forward on the environment. Our latest product launch – Tecbond 214B – a new biodegradable hot melt adhesive designed for the corrugated and carton packaging industry, is indicative of the research and development focus we’re putting into sustainable solutions.
“However, it’s equally important that our business ‘walks the talk’ on sustainable operations too. There is always more to do and, of course, we’ll be working together to see how we can further improve our rating next year. However, for the time being, we’re delighted with this achievement.”
Power Adhesives improved its score by 26 points since last year’s baseline submission, with improvements in every category. The company overall scored 19% higher than the average for its industry (Manufacture of Other Chemical Products).
The business scored particularly well in areas including Environment, Labour & Human Rights, and Ethics, achieving a grade of ‘Advanced’ in these key categories.
This latest achievement comes after Power Adhesives attained successful re-certification of ISO9001:2015, and new certifications of ISO14001:2021 and ISO45001:2018 in October 2023.
These certifications have given Power Adhesives a combined quality system acknowledging its work towards greater environmental sustainability, workplace safety, and high-quality products.
