Soilfood, a Finnish circular economy company, is processing the fibre-based side streams generated in the production of paperboard from manufacturer Metsä Board, into various soil improvement fibres for local farms. Soilfood has previously used these side streams from Metsä Board's board mills at Kemi and Äänekoski. Now the cooperation has been extended to the Tako mill, located in the centre of Tampere.

The largest investment of the forest industry in Finland - Metsä Fibre’s, part of Metsä Group, new Kemi bioproduct mill - came into operation as planned on Wednesday 20 September 2023. AFRY contributed significantly to the bioproduct mill project from the early study and pre-engineering phases to detail engineering and construction phase with multidisciplinary engineering and project management services.

"Cycling around the World", the international cycling competition organized by Gebrüder Weiss, ended with an impressive result: together, 650 cyclists the world over covered a distance of 612,246 kilometers – more than 15 times around the globe, far surpassing their original goal to circle the earth seven times. This was the second time the logistics company have invited their employees to take part in the sports competition between April and September, after last year’s inaugural competition delivered a surprising six circumnavigations of the globe.
