The world is experiencing a turning point in international economic and energy policy. A turning point that is accompanied by rising energy prices and disrupted supply chains. At the same time, more and more manufacturing companies are doing their bit to combat climate change. In this area of tension, solutions must be found quickly: politically, economically and especially technologically. HANNOVER MESSE 2022 provides the framework for this.

"In view of the current global political situation, the themes of HANNOVER MESSE are more relevant than ever before. At the heart of the matter is how we ensure security of supply while at the same time growing and consistently counteracting climate change," says Dr Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Board of Deutsche Messe AG. "There is no way around it: We must think about and reconcile security of supply and climate protection together. The technologies on show at HANNOVER MESSE play a key role in this."
From 30 May to 2 June, 2,500 companies from around 60 countries will be presenting their innovations for the factories and energy systems of tomorrow at the Hannover Exhibition Centre. Under the guiding theme of Industrial Transformation, they will show how networked production plants can work more efficiently and conserve resources, or how energy can be generated and transmitted sustainably.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Portugal's Prime Minister António Costa will open HANNOVER MESSE together. Federal Minister of Economics and Technology Robert Habeck will be present on two days in Hannover. On Sunday afternoon he will discuss the transformation of industry in the face of the current geopolitical upheavals with Siemens CEO Roland Busch and DGB Chairwoman Yasmin Fahimi. On Tuesday, he will visit the exhibitors' stands during a tour of the fair.
Numerous other political dignitaries from Germany and the EU are confirmed. Köckler: "At the end of May, the global industrial community will be looking to Hannover. This year in particular, HANNOVER MESSE 2022 can send economic policy signals and build bridges."
From Siemens to Google: exhibitors show technologies for digitalisation and sustainability
The 2,500 exhibiting companies include corporations such as Siemens, Bosch, Schneider Electric, Schaeffler, Google, Microsoft, SAP and Service Now, as well as many medium-sized industrial companies such as Beckhoff, Festo, Harting, Pepperl+Fuchs, Phoenix Contact and Lenze. Then there are the major research institutes such as Fraunhofer or KIT and around 150 start-ups, which find HANNOVER MESSE an ideal platform for networking with industry.
Green energies and hydrogen for security of supply and climate protection
When it comes to CO2-neutral production and energy security in Europe, renewable energies and green hydrogen play a key role.
More than 250 exhibitors will be focusing on hydrogen at HANNOVER MESSE. The Fraunhofer Institute will be using a reference factory to show how the costs of producing hydrogen can be significantly reduced. The company GP Joule presents Germany's largest hydrogen mobility project. Iberdrola, the Spanish world market leader for wind energy, presents Europe's largest hydrogen production.
Köckler: "A successful and thus rapid energy turnaround will only be possible with massive production of storable hydrogen from wind and solar power. The exhibitors at HANNOVER MESSE are showing how this can be achieved."
Fighting climate change with digitalisation, automation and AI
Europe wants to become climate neutral by the middle of the century. More and more companies have set themselves ambitious targets and are in the process of completely converting their production and services. HANNOVER MESSE exhibitors will be supplying the technologies needed to achieve this.
Bosch, for example, will be showing how intelligent energy management and networked robots make battery production more efficient and sustainable. SAP will demonstrate how the use of software optimises waste avoidance and emissions management. Siemens shows how manufacturers of e-cars can achieve their sustainability goals with digitalisation and robotics.
Comprehensive forum programme
With a total of more than 600 lectures and panel discussions, HANNOVER MESSE is a unique knowledge platform. On seven stages, companies will present the strategies and solutions they are using to respond to the challenges of the new era. The topics of digitalisation, climate protection and green hydrogen will be at the centre of attention. On 2 June, the WomenPower Career Congress will be held as part of HANNOVER MESSE. There will be 35 workshops on topics such as leadership, career planning and new forms of work.
Partner Country Portugal
This year, Portugal is the Partner Country of the world's most important industrial fair. More than 120 companies from the Partner Country Portugal have registered for HANNOVER MESSE 2022. Under the motto "Portugal Makes Sense", they will be showcasing their products and solutions for digital transformation, the energy transition and reliable supply chains.
