Koenig & Bauer's holiday care concept now included as a practical example in nationwide company guidelines
Regional farms offer interesting setting for children and are pleased with Koenig & Bauer's well thought-out concept

Koenig & Bauer has been a member of the Family and Work Alliance in the Würzburg region since 2006 and supports working mothers and fathers in balancing work and family life with a wide range of offers. Activities and events at the Würzburg headquarters include excursions and swimming courses for staff children and a children's and young people's day on the school holiday of Penance and Prayer. The holiday childcare programme with two complete weeks of childcare during the summer holidays is particularly popular with staff. Now the offer has been included in the nationwide company guide on company child care as the practical example for one of four organisational models. This guide is published by the Gesellschaft für soziale Unternehmensberatung for the support programme of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.
Holidays on the farm - educational and fun at the same time
Koenig & Bauer in Würzburg offers "Farm Holidays" during two summer holiday weeks and organises excursions to farms in the region. Currently, these are the Grimm adventure farm in Kleinrinderfeld and the Maintalhof farm in Erlach. In the mornings, the children are introduced to various topics, and afterwards there is enough time for the animals and free play. For this purpose, staff members of the company are always at the farms' side. This gives the parents security and is extremely welcomed by the farm operators. After the start of the offer in 2020, the number of places was expanded last year due to the very positive response from the staff. Eva Potzkai, who created the holiday care concept for Koenig & Bauer and heads the organisational team, reports that preparations for this year's campaign are already in full swing: "The interest of many children for the two holiday weeks in August 2022 is extremely high. Many want to participate for the entire two weeks. That makes us particularly happy, of course."
Childcare concept shows appreciation
In selecting and procuring the places, a choice was made from various regional farms. This included site visits by the Koenig & Bauer team and joint concept development with the farms. According to Christine Bötsch, head of global human resources management at Koenig & Bauer, this was particularly important because "experience has shown that simply 'renting places' is not so readily accepted, but that it is precisely the company's own offering that is important. For us as a company it is a sign of appreciation for our employees and we are pleased that our concept is so popular. After these successful first two years it is impossible to imagine Koenig & Bauer without this holiday childcare offer and we want to transfer this concept to other sites."
