Vattenfall has signed agreements with Westinghouse and Framatome for the long-term supply of nuclear fuel to the nuclear reactors at Forsmark and Ringhals in Sweden.

The agreements with Westinghouse Electric Sweden and Framatome will secure fuel supply to the five nuclear reactors at Forsmark and Ringhals from 2024 and onwards.

“We are very satisfied to continue our cooperation with two of our trusted suppliers. These agreements are in line with our strategy to be independent of individual suppliers and countries. The evaluation and decision are based on technical and commercial criteria, as well as Vattenfall’s ambitious focus on sustainability in the supply chain,” says Ove Nilsson, head of Vattenfall Nuclear Fuel.

Trade in nuclear fuel follows regulations and guidelines from the Euratom Supply Agency (ESA) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Westinghouse and Framatome are also audited according to Vattenfall's code of conduct for suppliers.
