The building sector is facing many major challenges: rising construction costs and a shortage of skilled workers are colliding with an urgent need for new housing. Simultaneously, the energy and heating transition, not to mention the rapid pace of digitalisation, are creating new opportunities for a sustainable future. Messe Frankfurt has responded to the dynamic challenges in the market with a newly formed management team for its Building Technologies division.

Highly effective bird protection without changing the visual properties of glass is not yet possible using current technology. Effective protection is provided by grids of dots measuring 9 -12 millimetres in diameter, spaced 90 to 100 millimetres apart and consisting of metallic coatings that create bright reflections on less reflective glass – making for stark contrasts in optimum spectral ranges for birds.

Guardian Glass and Kuraray have partnered to obtain a Document Technique d’Application (DTA) for the compatibility of Guardian SunGuard™ High Durable (HD) coatings (coating against interlayer) and SentryGlas® Xtra™ interlayer material. This combination offers architects and façade consultants a new opportunity to design a building envelope with high strength and energy performance.

SABIC, a global leader in the chemicals industry, is showcasing at The smarter E Europe 2024 a broad range of cutting-edge material solutions that can help accelerate the transformation of the energy sector. With innovative demonstrators and design concepts, SABIC’s exhibit (Booth 633, Hall A2) focuses on energy sourcing, supply and storage applications. Visitors can learn how specialty thermoplastics enable production scale-up and contribute to a sustainable energy future.

In a groundbreaking partnership, Actility, a global leader in low-power wide-area networks (LPWAN) connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT), and Cicicom, a leading Greek ICT company, have come together to transform Paros, Greece into Europe’s first smart island. The duo has introduced an all-encompassing LoRaWAN IoT network, redefining the relationship between cities and its citizens through advanced technological solutions, primarily focused on making urban mobility a breeze.

As a pioneer in the decarbonization of Industry, Fives designs solutions to help its customers improve their processes and reduce their environmental footprint. The newly launched e-Ductflame™ is a revolutionary electric/gas hybrid system intended for a wide range of applications, whether for replacing existing duct burners or for integrating into new installations. It has been designed to cut carbon emissions and improve the efficiency of industrial heating processes with minimum costs involved.

Natural daylight supports our circadian rhythm, keeps us alert and productive. This is why humans prefer living and working spaces that are flooded with natural light. However, in a changing climate buildings need also more air-conditioning due to longer and more intense periods of heat. The glass industry offers solutions in the form of highly selective layered systems that make for both high daylight transmission and thermal protection in summer, which reduces the climatic load and the periods of time where shading is required.

Wien Energie and Actility today announced a strategic partnership to deploy a LoRaWAN® network in Vienna. This significant initiative falls in line with Vienna’s digital strategy, aiming to position Vienna as the most livable and smartest city in the world. The project leans into the city’s commitment to human digitalization, ensuring the technology supports its residents rather than displacing them.

Designed for use in interior surfaces, Halia™ digital warming surfaces help address the increasingly strict zero-emission criteria of buildings and improve health and well-being of people. The Warming Surfaces Company and partners showcase the world’s fastest response heating solution.

The CNN-based technology developed by Visidon allows for significant improvement to video analytics accuracy in low-light environments, marking a new era for intelligent cameras deployed in public spaces, smart cities, factories, buildings, retail locations, and more.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is revolutionizing the way municipalities can sustainably and efficiently use and offer their infrastructure and public services. Using three example applications, L4IT Systems, the European subsidiary of one of the leading IoT solution providers, demonstrates the potential of IoT.

With just a few weeks to go before the doors open, Light + Building can boast yet another increase in exhibitor numbers. So far, over 2,130 companies have registered to present their innovative solutions and trends at the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building-services technology in Frankfurt am Main from 3 to 8 March 2024.

As the trade show with the world's widest range of processing machinery for wood construction, LIGNA 2023 will examine the focus topic "Prefab Building Processes" from all angles. After all, timber house construction has gained massive market share over conventional construction methods in recent years.

Wisdome Stockholm is a new scientific experiential arena situated in the courtyard of Sweden’s National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm. The Wisdome Stockholm building encompasses a wooden architectural design creating an arched-shaped room of 1,325 square meters. Stora Enso has been the main partner and delivered sustainable wooden construction materials for the project.

Delta, a global leader in power and thermal management solutions, today demonstrated, at AHR Expo 2023, a seamlessly integrated ecosystem of IoT-based Smart Green Solutions capable of enhancing energy conservation, productivity, security and indoor air quality (IAQ) in buildings and cities.
